Recovery of Immersions from Their Metric Tensors and Nonlinear Korn Inequalities: A Brief Survey

The authors discuss the existence and uniqueness up to isometries of Enof immersions φ : Ω  R~n→ E~n with prescribed metric tensor field(g ij) : Ω→ S~n, and discuss the continuity of the mapping(gij) →φ defined in this fashion with respect to various topologies. In particular, the case where the function spaces have little regularity is considered. How, in some cases, the continuity of the mapping(gij) →φ can be obtained by means of nonlinear Korn inequalities is shown.     

A Buzano type inequality for two Hermitian forms and applications

A Buzano type inequality for two nonnegative Hermitian forms is obtained. Applications to inequalities for norm and numerical radius of bounded linear operators in complex Hilbert spaces are given.     

Universal mappings for certain classes of operators and polynomials between Banach spaces

A well‐known result of J. Lindenstrauss and A. Pełczyński (1968) gives the existence of a universal non‐weakly compact operator between Banach spaces. We show the existence of universal non‐Rosenthal, non‐limited, and non‐Grothendieck operators. We also prove that there does not exist a universal non‐Dunford–Pettis operator, but there is a universal class of non‐Dunford–Pettis operators. Moreover, we show that, for several classes of polynomials between Banach spaces, including the non‐weakly compact polynomials, there does not exist a universal polynomial.     

The pseudomonotone polar for multivalued operators

In this work, we study the pseudomonotonicity of multivalued operators from the point of view of polarity, in an analogous way as the well-known monotone polar due to Martínez-Legaz and Svaiter, and the quasimonotone polar recently introduced by Bueno and Cotrina. We show that this new polar, adapted for pseudomonotonicity, possesses analogous properties to the monotone and quasimonotone polar, among which are a characterization of pseudomonotonicity, maximality and pre-maximality. Furthermore, we characterize the notion of D-maximal pseudomonotonicity introduced by Hadjisavvas. We conclude this work studying the connections between pseudomonotonicity, variational inequality problems and upper sign-continuity.     

Triple Systems are Eulerian

An Euler tour of a hypergraph (also called a rank‐2 universal cycle or 1‐overlap cycle in the context of designs) is a closed walk that traverses every edge exactly once. In this paper, using a graph‐theoretic approach, we prove that every triple system with at least two triples is eulerian, that is, it admits an Euler tour. Horan and Hurlbert have previously shown that for every admissible order >3, there exists a Steiner triple system with an Euler tour, while Dewar and Stevens have proved that every cyclic Steiner triple system of order >3 and every cyclic twofold triple system admits an Euler tour.     

Weighted isoperimetric inequalities in warped product manifolds

We prove some sharp isoperimetric type inequalities in warped product manifolds, or more generally, multiply warped product manifolds. We also relate them to inequalities involving the higher order mean-curvature integrals. Applications include some sharp eigenvalue estimates, Pólya-Szegö inequality, Faber-Krahn inequality, Sobolev inequality and some sharp geometric inequalities in some warped product spaces.     

一种新的求解拟单调变分不等式的压缩投影算法

2020年Liu和Yang提出了求解Hilbert空间中拟单调且Lipschitz连续的变分不等式问题的投影算法,简称LYA。本文在欧氏空间中提出了一种新的求解拟单调变分不等式的压缩投影算法,简称NPCA。新算法削弱了LYA中映射的Lipschitz连续性。在映射连续、拟单调且对偶变分不等式解集非空的条件下得到了NPCA所生成点列的聚点是解的结论。当变分不等式的解集还满足一定条件时,得到了NPCA的全局收敛性。数值实验结果表明NPCA所需的迭代步数少于LYA的迭代步数,NPCA在高维拟单调例子中所需的计算机耗时也更少。
